Green
Home grown lettuce.
Green is everywhere I look indoors and outdoor. Green is growing. Growing wherever I look and often in the least likely places on walls, in cracks in the pavement, on a beach battered by salt winds and sea spray, against the odds and flourishing. Green on a city balcony, green playing fields, green tree lined walks and wooded dells. Sometimes I think you can almost taste and smell the chlorophyll. Green is how I feel it is how I am. Green is a challenge in the waiting, Green is new shoots and grass clippings, Green is happy and content. Green is soothing, It’s what I see in the mirror with my green eyes. It’s what I see in my garden and on my allotment. Green is a part of me.

I’ve been meaning to take part in the Weekly Photo Challenge on WordPress for ages, I plan to use it as an excuse to go back through my archives, to explore images and share them. Which gives me a great excuse to go back and start sorting and tidying and scanning old negatives. Taking a look back at my life in images.
This post is part of the Weekly Photo Challenge: The Hue of You on WordPress and I wonder what green means to you?

Lovely entry, Claire … green to me .. means welcome – because my hallway is green … green stands for medical support – because in Sweden all operation staff carry green … green stands for spring and hope … green stands for social events and friends getting together, because I have a pair of olive green silk trousers that I just love to wear in the evening. I love green!!!
I love the idea of a welcome and of course your olive green trousers, and silk too, I can imagine feeling a million dollars in those !
Funny that I did mention that green stand for freshness .. and healthy food – but it does .. yes, regarding my trousers I feel very good wearing them – bought them on Isle of Man about 15 years ago and still hold up. Found a pair of ballerina in silk and suede to match last year.
If you were to see my house, you’d know what green means to me. There are touches of it everywhere though it is not a color I wear too much.
I think it can be a tricky colour to wear,
But I remember seeing your porch and looking out onto your garden would mean you have green inside and outside 🙂
Lots outside now tinged with orange, yellow and red!
oh yummy, my favourite colour Claire, yes I believe you can smell the chlorophyll, and love all those many amazing shades of green you listed so poetically! the four year old has decided it is her favourite too, so her mother had to trawl all the local op shops for green clothing or the child refused to be dressed in the mornings!
Priceless! A little green fairy or imp in the making me thinks 🙂
yes, impish fits the bill Claire 🙂
Lovely photo – fresh, healthy and… well green! Probably my favourite colour – the colour of life really… where would we be without green plants?
I like that – the colour of life, I like it lots !
I love it! Green to me means clean. Healthy. Yummy. Fresh. Not as poetic as you, I’m afraid! 🙂
I’d have your words too – only I don’t think of them first 🙂
Miami, Florida is always green. Unfortunately the climate is such that there is not autumn or trees for the multicolored landscape. I do appreciate the temperature dropping by 10 degrees though.
I’m picturing lush green, semi-tropical greens of Florida
Green isn’t something that I have too much of in the house. Only a couple of still living plants. 🙂
🙂
Beautiful head of lettuce!
Thank you Tessa, it’s a winter variety Ice Queen (French translation) and does well for me here with minimum protection – nice and crunchy, perfect for a winter salad
Lovely post Claire
To me green is fresh beginnings, hope, determination and the simplest yet one of the most enjoyable forms of beauty 🙂
I love that thought about fresh beginnings, thank you for adding that to my green list !
Green for me is good, peace and calm, ecological awareness, biology and botany, algae and moss! Loved your post Claire. 😀
Hi Cathy, I like the thought of green for calm, definitely like that for my green words !
Green to me means fresh, calm and invigorating! Great post! x
Invigorating – definitely !
I especially love that you have green eyes! c
he, he, he, – the green eyed monster alert!
Lovely photo and I think it means the same to me as a lot of others – fresh, healthy, spring and also autumn in Spain when everything comes ot life. It also reminds me of a wallpaper I managed to convince my parents to use in my bedroon when I was about 13 – white background with little green flowered sprigs. I loved it…until a spoilt little rich girl at school did her bedroom the same and told everyone I had copied her. Hmph!
Humph!!! Great story though Tanya 🙂
How beautiful, and how beautifully said! I like green too 🙂 Dana
Lovely to hear from you Dana, I’m slowly reconnecting with blogging and all my blogging buddies. I need to catch up with you and your garden !
Great photos!
Lovely post on Hues! Thank you for signing up to follow my blog! I sincerely hope that you will enjoy my posts! – B
Green, to me, is most noticeable in the spring when the grass begins to emerge and is a brilliant chartreuse. It signals new life.
You certainly did pick a lovely shot to mark your entry into the challenges, Claire. This shot is really quite beautiful. I cannot wait to see what else you’ll share with us. 🙂
so fresh…
That is a gorgeously sculptural shot, Claire, and the shade of green is subtle and pleasing. I’m also green-eyed and definitely noticed that about your lovely post. Green is a very peaceful and all-encompassing colour to me. I’d almost say trustworthy!
Beautiful shot, to me it captures the essence of delicate. Green has always been my favorite color: the color of life. I am especially fond of the brilliant sea green of tropical waters!
Hi Tiare, yes I’d forgotten about sea-green, a truly favourite colour of mine, thank you !
Yes, that’s – rather those – are your colors all right! What green means to me is clean, and bright, and new. Green is “to your good health!” and summer’s shade. Green is fields of clover and unfurling hostas. Green is fern and my love’s favorite sweater. And green is you my friend. xx
I love what green means to you – yes shade and ferns! But most of all the green sweater – that’s sweet and love in one bundle!
