As we are eating the latest batch of lettuce it is time to plant up the plug plants of lettuce sown a few weeks ago, and of course to start sowing some more.
This year I have lots of varieties to try out – I’m looking for taste, looks (colour and shape), resistance to bolting in heat or good for standing over winter. This batch is for summer eating and potentially for identifying which varieties I think will be good for seed saving; on looks alone Sanguine Ameliore is looking like a winner.
So in the heat of Tuesday afternoon I planted out rows of : –
- Fat Lazy Blonde
- Cimaron
- De Pierre Benite
- Drunken Woman
- Black Seeded Simpson
- Gotte Jaune D’Or
- Sanguine Ameliore
- Gentilina
- Blonde Du Cazzard
