No, not the royal wedding kind, but the squash kind.
Crown Prince has to be my favourite winter squash to grow. With it’s pale grey-green skin and it’s deep orange flesh. It isn’t the most prolific producer, for me anyway, I tend to get 2 decent squash per plant, but they are huge, beautiful, great keepers, and so very tasty. The flesh is dense and firm, and can be cooked in pretty much whatever way you choose – be it a risotto, roasted, curried. I still have one left on the windowsill at home, waiting for the perfect excuse / recipe
Long live the Crown Prince!
